Consumers look for healthy and simple nutrition. The common conception is that a clean label product should consist of a short and clear list of known ingredients and therefore is clean-er and healthier than products containing a long list of unfamiliar ingredients.

The clean label term goes through continuous evolution. The public opinion around it constantly changes and differs between regions and countries and although clean label is a widely accepted term used in the industry, it has no regulatory definition.
