Economists Forecast Another Wave of Price Increases by Year-End
Industry News
Economists predict that during the second half of 2026, we will witness a new wave of price increases from global food and beverage manufacturers. According to forecasts, by the end of 2026, the average cost of a food and beverage basket in the U.S. is expected to increase by up to 4.5% compared to prices at the beginning of the year.
The forecast is based on analyses indicating that external market conditions that are eroding the profitability of food and beverage manufacturers will continue over the coming six months. Factors include the ongoing crisis in Iran, rising fuel prices, increasing plastic packaging costs, the continuation of U.S. international tariff policies, and rising fertilizer prices.
Food and beverage manufacturers worldwide are already reporting that the upcoming summer will be marked by continued increases in raw material, production, and transportation costs.
