The longevity trend is entering the mainstream and attracting significant attention.
An academic study recently published followed tens of thousands of women worldwide over a period of 30 years and found that drinking regular coffee (with caffeine) contributes to a longer lifespan and helps prevent disease over time. The findings add to a growing wave of research aimed at identifying ingredients and beverages that may support longevity.
At the same time, the first food and beverage products carrying longevity-related claims are appearing on shelves. For example, U.S. beverage chain Hiigrind recently launched a longevity smoothie in collaboration with startup Healf.
The smoothie ingredients themselves are quite ordinary, but consumers receive a special skin patch with their purchase, releasing a blend of longevity-supporting ingredients including antioxidants, adaptogens, and an NAD+ precursor.
