New Regulation Fights Drink Spiking – and Bar Owners Approve
Regulation
A new California law requires more than 2,400 bars and pubs to offer customers a rigid plastic lid to cover their drinks and reduce the risk of drink spiking with substances such as date-rape drugs.
This regulation comes in addition to an earlier law requiring bars to keep testing kits on hand and to post warning signs about the phenomenon.
Most bar owners support the new requirement, recognizing that it strengthens customers’ sense of safety.
